Alba Ballet - Cinderella
Cinderella 2016
We have just completed Cinderella 2016. A journey that started way back in 2014. Like The Nutcracker in 2014 we had two performances at the The Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock. In addition to these performance we added a third performance at Barrfields in Largs. This was the first time Alba Ballet had performed outside Inverclyde.
The company comprised of 31 members which included our guest artist from Birmingham Josef Jagger who played the role of The Prince. Our leading Lady was Mairi MacLeod from Greenock, who starred as our Cinderella.
Our Fairy God Mother was Rachel Ashmead from Largs and she was joined by Sarah Arkley and Amy Hughes from Greenock who played the roles of Cinderella's Step Sisters. Cinderella's Step Mother was Rebecca Holmes from Glasgow. To complete the main cast we had Emma Dunn from Glasgow as Cinderella's Father and India Wilmot from Greenock as The Ballet Teacher.
Our Corps De Ballet contained our remaining 23 members of Alba Ballet, which included Hannah McLaughlin,Elise Wilmot, Ellie Wood and Anissa McKay who had all performed lead roles in The Nutcracker 2014.
Due to having two venues for 2016 and the improvements we wanted to make on light and sound from 2014 we employed our own back stage crew who along with fantastic scenery from Border Studio and costumes from The Dance School of Scotland, helped set the scene for our production of Cinderella.
We are delighted that the majority of the company will remain together for Copellia 2018, and we are looking forward to working with them over the next couple of years along with new members who will complete the company for our next big production.
